By "Cola wars" I mean when Pepsi and coke used celebrities to advertise their products. What I'm asking is what if the advertising and materialism that came from this uptake and heavier competition to get people to buy a bunch of useless stuff( at least inside the United states). Especially during the 80's the US moved away from a culture of saving and more of a spending like culture and what I want to know is what do you think would have happened or what do you think would be the timeline to where the culture didn't degenerate to this. Now of course we still buy think and are influenced by commercial but never to the degree of our timeline. I guess one thing is that massive corporation wouldn't obtain as much money since there wouldn't be as much spending and there might be more push back by anything that could threaten factory jobs to we might keep more of our industry. What do you think.
