What if The USA went to war with Japan during WW2, but never Germany or Italy?
So still funding and supplying Britain and the allies but never joining the war. Leaving the USSR and Britain to deal with the fascists in Europe.
The US still takes its place as a superpower, and still activates its war economy, but not to the extent of our timeline. I would think it's highly likely the US would still beat the Japanese.
But I don't know how the war in Europe would turn out, or how the US would interact with the aftermath of the European war. And how would the US deal with a defeated Japan without the Soviet Union in on the peace treaty?
I think this is a very interesting scenario with tons of interesting outcomes. I would like to see how you, the expert, would flesh out this alt-history.
